How to Be a Gangster Girl

Have you ever wanted to look like this:Well now you can! Female gang
members dress in similar color schemes and styles as their male counterparts; the style used will represent the gang you are a member of.

Appearance

  1. Wear appropriate clothes. If you are on a tight budget, you can buy part by part. Some clothes are available at stores in the sale so look around. Go buy a cheap but, nice looking hat, and a necklace. Go to the cheaper shops round your area and get jeans and a hoodie, and go from there. The usual clothing include tracksuits (not the ones from your team), jeans and hoodies (not skater hoodies). Brands such as Ecko, G-Unit, Apple Bottoms, Baby Phat, House of Dereon, Sean John, South Pole, Fubu, Davoucci, Mackavile and DC are popular with gangsta chicks. Also try the stores Nike, Reebok or Adidas for shoes. If you can, sneakers should be low-top kicks, with brands like Bathing Ape, G Unit, DC, Nike, and other popular but more expensive kinds.
  2. Learn your gang’s colors. Dressing accordingly will help. Wear jewelery. Chains, bangles, hooped earrings, and cute sunglasses are popular. You can have different styles of hooped earrings, and a nice pair for special events, for example, plain big silver for school, twisted ones for shopping, and gold bamboo hoops for looking your best.
  3. Be ghetto. Their houses are usually in a ‘hood or Cul de Sac and are clean and tidy (often expensive), but looks effortless. you should also try to look effortless. If you’re going to the store, throw on a necklace, messed up hair, a pair of sweats and a T and just to go. Don’t forget the flip flops if its a nice day. Don’t care what people think about you and don’t forget your cell phone.
  4. Wear make-up. Keep it light and natural around your face, don’t cake it on. Glitter around your eyes looks cute but don’t go overboard. There are two parts of your face you should focus on: your eyebrows, and your eyelashes. Try to make sure you get your eyebrows are waxed or plucked. You’d never see a ‘hood gal with a mono-brow, would ya? Also, wear mascara and eyeliner whenever you go out, even if you wear nothing else!!
  5. Take a shower every day. This will stop you stinking. Guys hate a girl with body odor. Also, try to shampoo and condition your hair every other day, unless you’ve got a weave, hair extensions, or have Afro-Caribbean type hair. If this is the case get your stylist to advise you on products you can put in to keep your hair nice in between washes.
  6. Choose a style for your hair. A lot of gangsta chicks have weaves or extensions to give their hair a thicker look. This is also popular amongst Afro-Caribbean girls, although wearing your hair in an afro is also gangsta to the bone. Some styles which are also popular are braids, cornrows (only get them done by people who know what they’re doing), dead straight hair with bangs, or just casually down with natural-looking, flowing waves. Depending on your hair type, you could:
    • Apply gel or mousse or baby oil.
    • Get honey-colored highlights in your hair, or get low lights if your hair is really light to give it depth.
    • Colour your hair either chocolate brown like Rihanna, sandy blonde like Tyra, platinum blonde like Gwen Stefani (do NOT dye your hair this colour if your skin is a very pink tone, it won’t look good), or black.
    • Wear sunglasses on your head, or wear a really thick headband that matches the shirt you’re wearing.
    • Wear your hair down, afro, corn rows, braids, or dead dead straight.
    • Wear your hair in a low ponytail or braid in microbraids.
    • One word - CELLPHONE.

Reputation

  1. Be known for being tough. DON’T cry or show weakness in front of others. This does not necessarily mean you have to whoop someone’s behind with a Machete, just being known for not taking bull from anyone.
  2. Listen to rap and hip hop. If you want a girlier image listen to the newer artists like Chris Brown and Ne-Yo. If you want a tough-girl rep listen to 2Pac, Biggie, Jay-Z, The Game, Ashanti, Eminem, G-Unit, N.W.A., Dr. Dre, Bow Wow, 50 Cent, Usher etc. Also try using the phrases “fo real” “Dat aint even funny” “Yall askin fo the drama” as often as possible and you could refer to your mom as your “OG” or “moms” and your friends as “Homes or Homie”
  3. Learn: Singing and Dancing are good things to learn. If you cannot do these try to work on your other talents. Everybody has a talent they are good at.

School

  1. Be smart. Gangsters (both mobsters and street gangsters) are traditionally known as being really intelligent people involved in crime, both organized and random. Choose your actions wisely. Getting involved in crime can land you in jail or kicked out of your house or dead. You may end up living in the streets. See article on How to Become a Hobo.
  2. Decorate your mypspace, bebo, bedroom, house etc. with gangsta stuff.

Social Life

  1. Socialize. Try and make friends with as many people as possible, but not the emos, scene kids, and goths. Don’t even give them the time of day. Just walk straight past them like they ain’t even real. Be nice to geeks, though, because you never know, they can be useful to have around, and could even become a lawyer and be bailing you out one day because you stole your next door neighbor’s car.
  2. Party, have fun and be fun to be around.

Tips

  • Don’t do it just to fit in but instead think of it as a lifestyle.

Warnings

  • Dressing and acting this way may cause the people around you to assume you are gang affiliated and treat you accordingly. This means that dressing this way can lead to a bad experience in the wrong neighborhood. Also, although many are opposed to the use of profiling by the police, it is still a common practice. You will be profiled by the police if you dress this way and you will be more likely to be stopped, searched, questioned or just be given a hard time, than if you did not dress like a female gangster.
  • Don’t use drugs. Although drugs have historically been associated with gangs, using drugs is illegal.
  • Don’t run away from home.
  • At least do as your parents say

How to Dress Fashionably in a School Uniform

Having a school uniform can put serious limitations on looking hot. Now you can look the hottest of them all, without breaking the school uniform rules.
This is for girls.

Steps

  1. Wear natural makeup: lightly brushed bronzer on cheeks, forehead, nose and chin for a natural summer face, groomed eyebrows (tweeze), clear lip gloss (light pink is best) and have clear skin, which means no acne. There may be some products which are the best range for teenage problematic skin.
  2. Keep your nails looking good. If you have strict rules about this, get a French manicure. It looks natural but gorgeous! Nail biting is a sin, and you must stop if you do!
  3. Smell good. B.O. is a huge turnoff, as is bad breath. Always carry some mint gum and deodorant, and shower daily.
  4. Wear tiny jewelry. Wear a tiny necklace or a ring that isn’t too visible. Keep it simple and only wear one item of jewelry.
  5. Wear a gorgeous watch.
  6. Wear hot school shoes, like kitten heels or ballet flats.
  7. One of the hottest things you can do is wear a ribbon to school. Wrap it round a bun or tie it in a bow on top of a pony-tail. Either way, it’s an attractive look. Stringy ribbons look best in bright colours and the thicker ribbons are great in any colour. If you want to be super-cool, you can wear a Chanel ribbon. These come in black and white, but you have to buy a Chanel product as they are part of the packaging.
  8. Try painting your locker with nail polish and colouring in the numbers with highlighter. It’s a seriously cute look and if you jazz up the inside of your locker with photos and beads, you’ll be the envy of all your friends.
  9. Get a polo or blouse that is not boxy but kind of shows off your figure. Pay attention to the rules on tight fitting clothes.
  10. Wear your favorite color socks (please NO tube socks), if you have to, wear knee highs. If you are able to, get them with fun patterns or solid colors.

Tips

  • Update your style every week. Have a theme each day of the week, like on Monday, you wear blue, so wear blue bracelets.
  • Coordinate your clothing. Stay fresh as in wearing nike dunks or jordans.
  • Wear matching belts/purses/earrings.
  • Be yourself!

Warnings

  • Be careful. Some school uniforms prohibit jewelry and a choice of shoes. In this case, express your style through cute school supplies or locker decor.
  • Be aware that if you paint over the triangle at the top of your locker, you many not be able to see which number you are choosing!
  • Make sure colors you choose don’t clash with your uniform, and look good together.
  • In some schools, you change out your locker periodically (and you will at the end of the year anyway), so make sure anything you dye isn’t permanent or against school rules.

How to Look Bangin

This is a way of how to look “bangin” so if you like it, do it. If your not into it, don’t read it. This is just some straight up advice if your trying to attract somebody or some people. By the way it works.

Steps

  1. Get your hair healthy: Start using a good conditioner so that when you style your hair it will remain healthy and in good condition.
  2. Get cute clothes that show your shape. Get tight jeans with a cute top that doesn’t make you look completely flat. If you’ve got a booty and are flat buy a push-up or Wonder Bra to make you feel more feminine and confident. When you buy your jeans make sure that they make you look like you have a booty. If you don’t have a booty there are many alternatives to fix it. You can work out and make a booty or you can wear padded underwear that gives you an extra boost. Don’t worry, I know plenty of people who can get away with it. But to be honest, the best way to look “bangin” is to be yourself so you can attract the right guy, girl , or crowd. When you buy shoes get some Nike’s or Reebok’s or even Fila’s. They are all great brands of shoes and look cute with jeans. Keep in mind that when you are buying your clothes that they make you look like you are in shape. You don’t have to be in perfect shape to be “bangin” you just have to know how to dress yourself.
  3. Wear makeup: Start off with mascara that makes your eyelashes super thick and long. As you are waiting for your mascara to dry, you will need powder foundation that matches your skin tone perfectly. The reason for this is to protect your face and soak up any extra oils so your skin doesn’t look greasy. Now, you will need bronzer and just put some on your cheeks. You can’t really go wrong with bronzer unless you put too much. Next apply some eyeliner gently to the bottom lid going thicker as you reach the outer corners. Also put some on the top inside your eye to make your eyes look really cute. Get some shimmery eyeshadow and put a little bit in the inner corners of your eye. All you have to do next is very carefully and gently line your lips with a lip pencil and blend very well. Top it off with a light pink or clear lip gloss.
  4. Get a cute hairstyle: A really good one is uneven side bangs and the rest of your hair long and straight. Scrunching is great! Its also very easy to do and you can read one of my other articles to learn how to do it.
  5. Learn how to flirt and become more open towards people. Communication and your attitude is the true key to look “bangin”. Have a sweet yet sexy attitude and communicate well with others. Don’t come across as stupid or a know it all and you’ll be good to go!

Tips

  • Always smile!
  • Talk a lot.
  • Love a lot.
  • Just be yourself and have fun.

Warnings

  • Don’t overdo your makeup.
  • Don’t dress like you are ready to give someone a lap dance. You don’t want people to get the wrong impression of you. Keep your personal style cool, cute, and casual, while still looking sexy.

Things You’ll Need

  • A little bit of cash to find some cute clothes.
  • Hair appliances and products, as well as some makeup.
  • A nice pair of your favorite kicks.

How to Be a Scene Girl

The current article that you are looking at is not just about how to achieve the look of a genuine scene girl, but it also details steps on how to make everyone believe you are a real scene girl, from your personality to basic fashion.

Steps

  1. Know what you’re expected to be. The genuine scene girl is often described by society to be very bold,Over-confident, and at times, random. Although you could aim to be the cute, shy scene girl. Also be really nice to everyone you meet because scene girls are not to come off as rude teens.
  2. Get a MySpace,(this is a big thing that can be optional. But to be a true scene you must have a myspace.) as just about every scene girl has an account. Create a ’scene’ page with a whole bunch of pictures of yourself in MySpace diffrent poses.
  3. Dress like a scene girl. Clothes are very important, and you must dress the part in order to be successful in this venture.
    • Wear flats like ballet shoes and even metallic/designer flats. Tutu like skirts are a must. Also, colorful BAPE and Nike shoes are getting popular. Slip-on Vans are huge.
  4. skinny jeans; shirts with a metallic sheen, leopard/zebra print, polka dots, or stripes are also highly acceptable.
    • Cartoon characters are very popular. Real scene girls dress in Hello Kitty, Gloomy Bear, Pokémon, Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles, Invader Zim, Batman, Superman, Skelanimals, Tinkerbell, Shaun The Sheep and any other cartoon gears they can think of.
    • Pyramid stud belts, and classic white belts are good.
    • Huge sunglasses are a must, and the bigger the better. The newest edition to the scene girls sunnies are the old fashioned “cop” style sunnies.
    • Over-sized pearl necklaces or other long necklaces are a must. There are a number of ways you can wear them that will make you look like a mature young person.
  5. If you perferr pericing then get some. They are auto matically consider scene. So go for it.As piercings are very popular among the scene kids.
    • Septum, Monroe, Snakebites, Spiderbites, and Browbreakers are acceptable piercings; since your ears will probably be hidden under your voulumious hair you can either wear big earrings or none at all. You can try pearl earrings for a dash of preppy style.
  6. Wear bright eye makeup. Pink, purple, blue, green, and red would do just fine. Remember to use , black/silver/blue eyeliner. The makeup can be plain black eyeline depending on how scene you would like to be.Do not go to over board with your black cause you could come off as a emo.Just some eyeline maybe a little thicker then usual is accepted. It is also scene to add a little design to your make-up.Such as wings. Although you can also go for the clean, pretty scene girl look with just lots of mascara and some pretty eyeshadow.
  7. Get a new hairstyle, but keep it classy. The most important thing you should do with your hair is part it to the side, with bangs sweeping in front of your face instead. Little girl clips and dying your hair multiple colors are to be expected and a bit dated, so try wearing a Nike sweatband instead and styling your hair around it.Also, you don’t have to have long hair to be scene just tease the top of your hair and put your bangs to the side.
    • Short, choppy layers are very scene.
    • The scene mullet is popular, and is seen sported primarily by Asian scene girls.
    • A hairstyle that is quickly becoming popular with scene kids is straight hair with bangs. It is very simple to do if you want something not too extreme. You want long straight hair, of any color, and bangs that go straight across your forehead hanging in front of your eyes some.
    • Another classic scene style that will not turn heads as fast, and therefore is more acceptable to sport around your parents and other non-scene people, is tying the back of your hair in a ponytail and allowing chunks of hair to fall down where your sideburns would be.
    • Slightly long hair with ultra layers and choppiness right at the ear, below the ear slightly, or above the ear is considered extreme scene.
  8. Color your hair. [[Dye Blonde Hair Black|Dye it black]or platinum blone. If you go completely black be carful.Cause you could come off as an emo.So if you go black put some neon colored chuncks in it. Any other dark color will do (maroon, purple, or red). Even brunettes can be scene without dying their hair any more than blond highlights. Extreme colors have gradually become more popular so don’t be afraid to try a risky move.
  9. Listen all types of music except for country. Meaning anything random and cool. Listen to techno and rock bands.
  10. Use scene lingo, and adopt certain words into your vocabulary, such as “hella”, “rad”, “stellar”, “pimp”, “hot”, etc. The word dank, and hip-hop slang are also scene.

Tips

  • You can buy EVERYTHING you need at Dotti, Supre, Diva and Equip. Wear as much fake vintage stuff as you can find and heaps of mass produced plastic necklaces.
  • Don’t let anyone call you emo, because that is a music genre, scene is the fashion.
  • Scene kids like to think they are random. Don’t over do it… no one wants to talk to someone who screams “purple hippos!” every ten seconds.
  • Offbeat dancing in public is widely accepted as scene.
  • Be honest, but not mean. Do what you want and embrace your flaws.
  • Don’t hang out with your scene friends and tell them how pretty they are and how you wished you looked like them..no one likes a suck-up, and they’ll think you are just telling them that because your fishing for compliments.
  • Avoid posers at all costs. They will bring down your image.
  • Frequently go to shows with friends to see local bands. Only the uninitiated refer to events with music as concerts.
  • MySpace can make or break you. Get an original layout: pre-made ones are marginally scene, try to learn basic CSS or search MyGen on Google and make your own original layout. Bulletin trains are an option for those who want many MySpace friends, and themed trains are very scene. Good backgrounds are animal furs, vintage lace things in black and grey, a gun pattern, etc.
    • The stereotypical modern scene MySpace name usually involves your first name, a second name involving fashion, gore, or music like the lesser knowns(Kayleigh Collision, Courdactle, Killer Amber, Trashley for example)or find last names used by Scene QUEENS (Twigg VIOLENCE, Zui SUICIDE, Kiki KANNIBAL, daniGORE, Ezi XTACY, Lexi LUSH) some sort of symbol, and brackets full of letters representing the many crews and exclusive MySpace groups that you are part of. Other ways to make your name scene is to not capitalize the first letter, follow your given name by a period and an exclamation point (or just a period) or to follow your uncapitalized name by a TM symbol. Alliteration(repetition of the first consonant sound in a phrase) is a key method you might want to consider when creating your scene name(for example, raquel reed or cory kennedy.) Doing this can make your name more memorable and can increase your popularity among other scene kids.
  • You can have a photographer friend take high quality pictures of you to emphasize your originality, or take pictures from your camera phone at shows or parties to show the world your scene entourage. Experiment with timers, mirrors, Photoshop filters, themed pictures, and whatnot.
  • While MySpace is a staple of the scene, open up to other websites such as FaceBook, Last.fm, Vampirefreaks.com and Xanga. Some scenesters operate on the down-low with only a Last.fm, emphasizing their obsession with music.
  • Audrey Kitching, Killer Amber and other “popular” people on myspace (ex: Hillary Haywire, Kiki Kannibal, Zui Suicide, Dakota Rose & Kayleigh Collision) are the best examples but don’t EXACTLY copy what they have, use bits and pieces to make your own.
  • In the scene, calling each other insults is considered a compliment. So if your new-found scene friend says “Luv ya, betch”, thank them.
  • Wear little bows in your hair. not like, 80’s big, and not microscopic small. the little clippy plastic ones are the sex!
  • Scene hair mostly is choppy, or has a fringe. If you like long hair, layer it and streak/ bleach some parts. Even better if you add little girl clips and headbands, plus choppy side bangs.
  • Take pictures of your “scene entourage” with a good camera phone but NEVER use that picture as a default. (Myspace, Vampirefreaks, etc.)
  • Basically, being scene is about being unique. Create your own style…have fun with it. But follow the basic guidelines of this page, otherwise you will not be considered scene…just weird.

Warnings

  • You will most likely be judged and insulted, but if you’re a true scene girl you won’t care.
  • Never ever admit to being or call yourself scene. Anyone who does will just be considered a poser. Remember, you’re not really scene unless you’re still too “unique” and “original” to admit it.
  • You may be called goth, but correct them, because you’re not. People who mistake scene for goth just don’t know the difference.
  • Also don’t care for what others think. It’s who you want to be, not who they want you to be
  • You may be mistaken for emo by critics. Be sure to correct them, because emo and scene are very different.
  • Dying coon stripes into your hair is a very risky move. You could just have coon tail extensions if you have long enough hair, though.
  • Do not take MySpace pictures where you look emo or goth.
  • Remember: do not change all of a sudden, make your changes gradual, or you will be called a poser, or a “scene wannabe”. The typical time it should take to change depends on what you were before, but anywhere from 3 months to about a year should be okay. Taking advantage of summer vacation is also a good time to make changes.
  • Although scene lingo is important to use, don’t go overboard in real life. Your non-scene friends might not understand “That guy is the sex!!! He’s just so hardxcore and radd!!!
  • if you DO lose friends during your change remember this: if they cant accept you for who you want to be, then they aren’t your real friends.
  • Not a lot of people will understand the difference between “emo” and “scene” make sure they KNOW that you’re scene but don’t spend hours explaining the difference. NEVER EVER say, “I’m not emo, I’m scene.” Remember, ’scene’ is cool, ‘emo’ is a type of music that the media and idiodic MySpace junkies stereotyped and made into a stupid wrist cutting, bisexual, fad.
  • Dont be too random, because then you will just be called plain annoying.
  • Don’t over dress when out in places like the grocery store or post office, because other scene kids will think you’re a poser. You should not be wearing a tutu, leggings, flats, six shirts, and every necklace you own in places like that. Real scene girls save the best outfits for places where all the right people will see them: school and shows.
  • Remember- if you dye your hair too much you WILL damage your colour. Do not use black hair dye all over your hair if it is very light blonde, maybe just do the tips, roots or even have streaks in it.

Things You’ll Need

  • Hair straightener.
  • Hair Gel/ Hair Wax. For your roots.
  • Hairspray
  • Hair dye

How to Have a Great Sense of Style

Fashion is a great way to express yourself and show your personality through what you wear. That’s why having your own style is so important. You need to have your own personal style, just like you have your own individual personality. For example, to show your bubbly and outgoing, you can wear bright, fun stuff. If you’re more quiet and sophisticated, you can wear something to reflect that as well. And a great part about fashion and clothes is that you don’t need a million bucks to LOOK like a million bucks!

Steps

  1. Find your style. In other words, find clothes you like, then look back at everything that caught your eye, and try to classify it all. For example, if you find yourself being drawn to bright, colorful, and bold pieces, you’re style is probably very bold and maybe risky (in a good way). If you notice that you love to buy lots of skirts and dresses, your style is probably leaning toward a flirty, girly aesthetic. If you liked a mix of everything, then you’re free-spirited and your style has no boundaries.
  2. Go to the mall and try out some new places. Now that you’ve figured your style out, you have a general idea of what to look for. Once you’re at the mall, try out as many stores as you can, even if it means going somewhere you’ve never been into before. Some good, affordable places are Forever 21, Wet Seal, Rue 21, Charlotte Russe, Steve and Barry’s, and The Buckle. Try any place that catches your eye.
  3. Stay away from Aeropostale, Abercrombie, American Eagle Outfitters, and Hollister (especially if you’re a teen). Yes, they may have cute clothes, but everybody shops there, and you don’t want to look like all the others, right? But, if you absolutely must buy something from one of those places, only buy 1 or 2 things.
  4. The mall is not your only hope. If you think the mall is too expensive or if you dislike it, try out other retailers. Kohls and JC Penny have awesome stuff. Other great places are T.J Maxx, Marshall’s, Macy’s, Boston Store, Target, or Sears. For especially unique and cheap items, hit your local thrift stores. Goodwill and Salvation Army have many one-of-a-kind items for under $10. Look for skirts, vintage dresses, cute purses, scarves, and jewelry.
  5. Remember: FIT is important, NOT SIZE. If you find something you like in a store, try it on! Look for a good fit, not size. You might have to bring a few different sizes into a dressing room, but what difference does it make? You could have the most perfect top in the world but it would look terrible if it’s too loose or too tight. Don’t get all hung up if you have to buy a size larger or smaller than what you usually wear. Remember, all stores are different; their fits are rarely identical. If you really like something, try on various sizes until you find one that looks best. If none of them do, don’t buy it. It may be adorable, but if it’s unflattering, you won’t enjoy wearing it.
  6. Keep your body type in mind. Flattering your body type is key to looking stylish. Thin and Short: Look for medium-length shorts, loose minidresses, skinny jeans, and fitted jackets that end at your waist. Thin and Tall: You can pull off many different looks, but keep proportions in mind. Go for dramatic garments like ankle-length skirts and dresses, wide-leg jeans, and sweater dresses. Curvy: You should try wrap dresses, tops with vertical details (such as thin stripes or pin tucks), jackets that tie around your natural waist, and boot-leg jeans. Athletic: Look for pieces that create curves, like flair-leg pants, v-neck blouses,, ruffly tops, and skirts with pleats.Try wearing a wide belt around your waist.
  7. Choose flattering colors to complement your skin tone. If your skin is tan or if you’re African-American,try warm colors, like orange, yellow, and red. If your skin is light you should go with cooler colors like blue, green, or purple. Don’t worry though, even if you have light skin it doesn’t mean you’ll never wear orange again. If you’d like to wear warm colors and you’re cool (or vice versa) then look for a different shade of that color; i.e.,f you’re warm and you want to wear green, look for a deep, forest green. If you’re cool and want to wear red, go for a cherry red.
  8. The Internet is a very stylish place. You can find extremely cute clothes online as well! It’s perfect because if you buy your clothes from sites that don’t have stores, it’s very unlikely that someone will have the same piece as you. Some great sites are: gojane.com alloy.com davidandgolliathtees.com The only downside to online shopping is that you can’t try on anything. Be sure to take a look at the sizing charts and return policies and you should be fine.
  9. Shoes rule!! Shoes are a very important part of an outfit. Be sure to keep in mind your style and the season while shoe shopping. Sandals are good for spring. Flip flops are great for summer (buy lots of cheap, solid color pairs so you can mix and match). Ballet flats are perfect for fall.Boots and clogs are best for winter. Sneakers are also good options for cooler months. But if you are going to chose to wear sneakers, don’t pick out just plain old athletic shoes: save those for the gym. Instead get stylish ones, such as Converses or Vans. Another fabulous option is to personalize your own! You can design your own Nike, Converses, or Vans at each of their respective websites. (Beware, though, this can be expensive.) A cheaper way to personalize is to buy different laces. One more option could even be to buy a cheap pair in a light color and draw on them in Sharpie! I recently bought these tan sneakers for $15 at Kohls and I took them home and drew all over them! I get so many compliments on them now. You could draw anything you like on them, from song lyrics to cartoons to patterns! The choice is yours.
  10. Accessories can turn a blah outfit into a wow outfit! Just like shoes, accessories like jewelry, belts, purses, hats, and sunglasses can make or break your style. The best place in the world for jewelry is Claire’s! Their necklaces, earrings, and bracelets are super cute and very affordable. They even offer ear piercings from professionals! Get some basic hoop and stud earrings that will go with anything, and it would also be a good idea to get a cute, versatile charm necklace too. Bangle bracelets look great with loads of things. For belts, don’t spend a whole lot of money on them. Just get two or three. Target has loads of belts and they’re pretty affordable. Studded or braided belts look nice with pretty much everything. Also, at some stores a belt comes with a pair of jeans, so look out for that too. (I know Kohl’s juniors does this.) Chunky belts that go around your waist look fabulous with a slouchy-neck or cashmere sweater. It really gives you an hourglass figure. Target is a great place to get cheap purses, too. I know, most articles will tell you that a designer purse is essential, but really, not all of them are that great and a lot of people don’t like spending $200 that a purse that will barely hold their keys and their cell phone. (I know I don’t!) Get something that’s a medium-ish size, so you’re not lugging around this giant thing wherever you go. (Unless you’re into tote bags! American Eagle has some great ones, and it’s one of the few times you should buy something from one of those teeny-bopper stores.) But whether or not you’re into large purses, be sure it isn’t too big. Put it over your shoulder in the store. If it’s way longer than your waist, or way thicker than your side, it’s too big. You don’t want to look ridiculous lugging around something that looks like you could fit a body in. As for sunglasses, find out your face shape and what shape of sunglasses would look best on you. Round shaped faces should get square shaped sunglasses, and square shaped faces should get round-ish sunglasses, or aviators. They should be big, but not huge like Nicole Richie or Paris Hilton’s. It looks ridiculous. But over all, for accessories, the general rule is don’t over accessorize. If you’re wearing five necklaces, a stack of bangles up your arms, a belt, big earrings, big sunglasses, and carrying a purse the size of a small elephant, you’re not going to be able to walk. If you think it looks like too much (if you need to ask, it probably is) then take off one item before you leave the house.

Tips

  • A good way to keep up on current trends and find new outfits you like is to subscribe to a fashion magazine. Seventeen is a very good one, as it has quite a lot about fashion and the clothes are affordable for the most part. But don’t rely on trends too much, because trend means something everyone wears, and like I mentioned early, you do not want to look like everyone else.
  • A cool thing to do is to keep a fashion scrapbook! Take an old, empty notebook (like one you’d use for school) cut out clothes you like from a fashion magazine you’re subscribed to, and glue them into the notebook! It’s really fun and it’s cool to look back and see how your style has changed or stayed the same through the years.
  • If you really like something, but it’s too long, don’t be afraid to get it tailored! Find a tailor nearby your neighborhood and have him or her change it to what you’d like. Most of the time it isn’t too expensive, roughly $20 I think. But it will be worth it to have that dress altered to the perfect height to make you look like a goddess!
  • Don’t be afraid to take risks in the dressing rooms! If you see something you like but are hesitant to buy it because you aren’t sure if it would flatter your body type, then try it on. For example, if you really like those shorts but have curvier legs, then why not take it to the dressing room? You’ll never know until you actually put it on! And if it does look bad, who cares? It’s not like anybody has to see you.
  • Always flatter your favorite body parts! If you love your long, beautiful legs, show them off in miniskirts and short-shorts with flats! If you adore your skinny, tanned arms, flaunt them with halter and tank tops! You like your curvy butt? Proudly display it to the world with capri pants and jeans with designs on the pockets! Like they say, if you’ve got it, flaunt it.

Warnings

  • Dress respectably. In other words, don’t look like a slut. There’s nothing wrong with drawing attention to certain parts of your body, but know where to draw the line. The rule of thumb is that if you’re going to show off your legs, wear a modest shirt. If you’re wearing a low cut top, then replace your shorts with jeans. Never do it all at once. Don’t wear skin tight, low riding jeans (especially with thongs!). Don’t wear paper thin, super low cut tops either. Be sure you’re bra isn’t showing. (Straps are okay most of the time, only if it’s a little bit. Like with tank tops it might even look good if it’s colored.) You don’t want that sort of attention.
  • Never, ever change your style for somebody else! Now that you have a new style, a new wardrobe, some people will love it and some won’t. Some may even be jealous! Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Ignore the dirty looks you might get. Who cares what those other people think? You’re dressing for you, not for some living Barbie doll in your geography class. Accept compliments you get with a smile, and simply ignore the icy ones. What matters is reflecting yourself as a person through you’re clothes, not the opinion of some jealous female dog. :)

How to Build Self Confidence

You want to be confident and feel confident, but what if you’re starting with little or no confidence? How do you get from Point A to Point B? True self-confidence isn’t an overnight acquisition. It takes dedication to realize you are a good human being that is worthy of respect and love.

Steps

  1. Recognize your insecurities. What does that voice in the back of your mind say? What makes you ashamed of yourself? This could be anything from acne, to regrets, to emotional abuse (past or present) from a loved one or friends at school. Whatever is making you feel unworthy, ashamed, or inferior, identify it, give it a name, and write it down.
  2. Talk about it with friends and loved ones. Wear it on your sleeve. Each day you should chip away at it; wear it down. There’s no quick fix. Get to the root of the problem; focus on it and understand that you need to resolve each issue before you can move on.
  3. Remember that no one is perfect. Even the most confident people have insecurities. At some point in any of our lives, we may feel we lack something. That is reality. Learn that life is full of bumps down the road.
  4. Identify your successes. Everyone is good at something, so discover the things at which you excel, then focus on your talents. Give yourself permission to take pride in them. Give yourself credit for your successes. Inferiority is a state of mind in which you’ve declared yourself a victim. Do not allow yourself to be victimized.
  5. Be thankful for what you have. A lot of the times, at the root of insecurity and lack of confidence is a feeling of not having enough of something, whether it’s emotional validation, good luck, money, etc. By acknowledging and appreciating what you do have, you can combat the feeling of being incomplete and unsatisfied. Finding that inner peace will do wonders for your confidence.
  6. Be Positive, even if you don’t feel positive. Avoid self-pity, or the pity and sympathy of others. Never allow others to make you feel inferior–they can only do so if you let them. If you continue to loathe and belittle yourself, others are going to do and believe likewise. Instead, speak positively about yourself, about your future, and about your progress. Do not be afraid to project your strengths and qualities to others. By doing so, you reinforce those ideas in your mind and encourage your growth in a positive direction.
  7. Look in the mirror and smile. Studies surrounding what’s called the “facial feedback theory” suggest that the expressions on your face can actually encourage your brain to register certain emotions. So by looking in the mirror and smiling every day, you might feel happier with yourself and more confident in the long run.
  8. Fake it. Along the same lines of smiling to make yourself feel happy, acting confident might actually make you believe it. Pretend you’re a completely confident version of you; go through the motions and see how you feel.
  9. Express yourself, whether it’s through art, music, writing, etc. Find something you enjoy. Everyone is born with talents and strengths. You can develop and excel in yours. If it’s difficult to name two or three things you have some ability in or just plain love to do, think about things others do that you would like to do too and take some lessons or join an enthusiasts club. When you’re following your passion, not only will it have a therapeutic effect, but you’ll feel unique and accomplished, all of which can help build your self confidence. Plus, adding a variety of interests to your life will not only make you more confident, but it will increase your chances of meeting compatible friends!
  10. Stick to your principles. It might be tough, but if you don’t have something you can believe in, you don’t have anything. If you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything. No matter what’s happened in your life, you can always lay claim to the fact that from this day forward, you’ve followed your principles to the best of your ability.
  11. Help others. When you know you’re kind to the people around you, and are making a positive difference in other people’s lives (even if it’s just being kinder to the person who serves you coffee in the morning), you’ll know that you are a positive force in the world–which will boost your self confidence. Go volunteer twice a month at an elementary school. Bake something for your neighbor for no reason. Confidence that you have earned is the most long-lasting.
  12. Stop worrying. What worries you today will be forgotten by you and people around you tomorrow. Can you remember what you were so worried about the same day the same time last week? If not, then you should not worry right now. You will not worry about it even one week from now.

Tips

  • Exercise and eat healthy. Exercise raises endorphins and makes one feel happier and healthier. It is certainly an easy and effective way to boost your self-confidence.
  • When you’re feeling superbly insecure, write down a list of things that are good about you. Then read the list back. You’d be surprised at what you can come up with.
  • Turn feelings of envy or jealousy into a desire to achieve. Stop wanting what others have just because they have it; seek things simply because you want them, whether anybody else has them or not.
  • Don’t be afraid to push yourself a bit - a little bit of pressure can actually show just how good you are!
  • Take a wilderness experience course such as those found at Outward Bound or NOLS. Learning how to survive in the wilderness will build your confidence in other areas of life too. You can also try taking a martial arts or fitness class/course (or both). This will help build confidence and strength.
  • Try to make yourself talk positively at all times. When you hear yourself saying you can’t do something, stop and say you can. Unless you try, you will never know whether you are able to or not.
  • Everyone is beautiful in their own way; don’t let anyone tell you differently. Remember to tell yourself that you are beautiful every day; even if you don’t believe it, one day you will.
  • Money, luck, beauty, and all other material things are just an illusion of happiness. It misleads us to believe we will feel excellent if we have these things or have fun, but in the long run, you will discover that while these things aren’t necessarily horrible, they are only mere satisfactions. You will realize having the American Eagle jacket, Nike Shoes, or an attractively rich person flirting with you is only a satisfaction, so you in the end you might feel glad you’ve gotten what you wanted, but you’ll want more and more until you reach happiness. It’ll be you just running for happiness blindly until you are worn out.
  • Happiness is not all about being lucky, attractive, or the best, but rather feeling joyful in yourself, letting go of your insecurities, and having real fun. Sometimes going clubbing is also what the media tags as being the most fun thing, and it can be, but you decide what feels wonderful and happily fun. The reason people also reflect back to their childhood as “the good ole days” is because that’s when being the richest or prettiest doesn’t count really, and when we were able to release ourselves and have true fun, feeling happy and confident.
  • Keep smiling all the time. It will help you feel more confident.
  • Say what comes to your mind; since your instinct thought of it, it’s probably the right thing for you. Trusting your instinct will provide you with confidence to make the right decision at the right time.
  • Practice good posture. Our body posture represents what we are at that particular time. A simple habit that we can learn and implement is to stand and sit correctly. Your proper body posture will speak for you; how you stand sends out a message to the world, and in turn, back to you.
  • Avoid perfectionism. Perfectionism paralyzes you and keeps you from accomplishing your goals.
  • Write something on wikiHow! If you have a suggestion for anything, then share it. You will feel good for contributing, helping someone, and having your voice heard.
  • Please read the book A New Earth; it covers the right way to have self confidence

Warnings

  • Don’t get wrapped up in your mistakes and dwell on bad points; they can be a healthy contrast to your good points or even give you something to improve. There’s no feeling like being good at something you were really bad at.
  • Don’t confuse what you have with who you are. People degrade their self worth when comparing possessions.
  • Surround yourself with nurturing friends, not overly critical individuals who make you feel inadequate or insecure. This could do great harm and damage to your self confidence.
  • Do not try to become confident in the sole interest of finding a partner. You will regret creating a false personality as the relationship goes along.
  • It’s good to have a lot of confidence, but don’t build it up so much that you get egotistical and annoying.
  • Lack of confidence is not necessarily a curse! So do not worry. Many ignorant, fanatic and maniac people are confident but is that desirable? No. Building self confidence should be associated with simultaneous growth from within. Thus by overcoming pettiness and superficiality you can build unshakable self confidence [Cf: Conceptual Stress: Dr. Shriniwas Kashalikar].
  • Smiling all the time can come off as being phony. People can often tell fake smiles from real smiles.

How to Be Labeled Happy and Different

If you’re in a generation where everyone wants to be emo then listen to this. Being emo is a really sad thing. no one should try to be emo and be so sad. Everyone wants a great life. Here’s a few tips on how to be your own different label.

Steps

  1. Hair Not being emo doesn’t mean you can’t have side bangs or black hair or some neon colour. If you like purple hair go for it and get your hair done purple! Just remember for the emo style the haircut is everything so don’t be too much like it.
  2. Eyes Try and keep the eye makeup low. Everyone wants to see how beautiful you are without it. Some powder coverup and pink blush is always cute. Maybe a little eyeliner but not too dark and obvious. If you want to maybe some eyeshadow, but nothing too dark though.
  3. Jewelry If you’re religious I would suggest maybe a necklace that has a cross on it or something that keeps you close to your god and makes you feel good and happy.
  4. t-shirts T-shirts are very important part of someone’s wardrobe. If you’re really into music then have some band t-shirts! Just try and keep away from the skulls or broken hearts. Also anything with colours or anything cute. (cute but not too girly there’s a difference.) Tanktops with little rainbows on them maybe, but remember if you wear tank tops remember to wear a zip-up hoodie.
  5. Hoodies can be of a band too if you like. Don’t get anything too fitted. Nothing with a lot of weird designs. Save those for the t-shirts. Just plain and simple black or grey with yellow stripes or something around those lines.
  6. A belt is highly recomended, but do not get a studded belt. Maybe something with piano keys or music notes. It’s always fun to have some sort of fun belt buckle, like a superman S or batman sign.
  7. Pants Pretty much anything is a go. I wouldn’t recommend too many pairs of skinny jeans because those are taking up the emo community too much now. If you do choose to wear skinny jeans wear them with the least emo t-shirt you own and maybe put your hair up. They look really good with a pair of nike airs, but straight jeans or flared jeans with very little flare and aren’t very tight work great. Also a good pair of yoga pants to wear once in a while.
  8. Anything you want really for shoes. Just some pointers nike airs go well with skinnys, converse and good with flared jeans. Don’t wear them with skinnys it’s too “emo”. Everyone has DCs now a days so they aren’t recommended but if you want them go ahead! Maybe get a pair that no one has though.

How to Dress Like a Skater

Learning to skate on a skateboard can be fun. It can also be a challenge. Watching someone skateboarding makes it look easy. It is not, and takes a great deal of hard work. After you learn, the next step is dressing to look like a skater.

Steps

  1. Research on the web or talk to the people in a skate shop to find out what is suitable to wear. Typically they skate and should be able to help you. (Some might but others won’t because no one like a poser.)
  2. Buy skateboarding shoes. Skate brand shoes are made with skateboarding in mind but you can get by with “casual” shoes. Some good examples of skateboarding brand shoes are Vans, Fallen, Nike SB, Circa, DVS, and Element. Look for Vans if you want something inexpensive, but don’t buy slip-ons. Dunks and/or Adidas Campus are two shoes to consider as well (as many skaters swear by Nike).
  3. Keep your hair long or short. Whatever is comfortable for you works. Long shaggy hair isn’t a sign for a skater like people think, Andrew Reynolds is a real skater and he doesn’t have long hair and not all skaters do. You can make your hair spiky, messy, or versace — whatever you want.
  4. Choose comfortable clothing. Wear any type of shirt, depending on your comfort level and your taste. Select either short sleeved or long sleeved, and buy pants that enable you flexibility while skateboarding. Look for comfort first, and style next. Once you’ve found a style look at you’re local skate-shop for brand tees
  5. Don’t wear skating brand shirts all the time. Wear casual clothing as well. Striped shirts, plain t shirts , hoodies, brands shirts all that is skateboarder clothes. Sweet band shirts are good for skater style.
  6. Don’t wear “Phat Farm” or “Southpole” unless you want the gangster look.
  7. Try to take some examples from video games like “Tony Hawk” but DON’T COPY just take examples only to any one who says that skateboarders should wear skulls shirts or leather jackets that’s totally not a skater.
  8. Don’t let anyone tell you a formula for skater style. It is YOUR style, you make it. You’re reading this just for ideas.

Tips

  • Look in skate magazines, to notice what other skateboarders wear when skating. Brady Emery is a good example of a clean skater.
  • Look at other skaters and see what they wear.l
  • Fit in but don’t try to be a copy-cat. Wear what you like without looking like a fool.
  • Having scrapped elbows and knees, and ripped pair of jeans might look cool, but don’t scrape your elbows and rip your jeans on purpose, since that is seriously being a poser. Instead, just think of it as a thing gained if you have a bad fall.
  • Having torn up shoes is a sign of a skater, but real skaters hate it when their shoes get torn up. Becuase of that don’t go cuting up your shoes, it just ruins your shoes and makes you look like a poser. It also pisses off skaters because they understand that rips are the cause of the end of their shoes life and you basically saying you want to ruin your shoes.
  • If you do want to dress like a skater, make sure you don’t look like a clone, it’s not cool and you’ll end up looking like a poser. So don’t be afraid to stand out, it’s not like looking like everyone else will make you a better skater.
  • Skaters hate posers, so don’t just skate to brag or for the look.

Warnings

  • Shoes will, of course, be damaged in this after-school activity.
  • Board will also tend to break often if you do big gaps or stairs.
  • Don’t copy things your friends do, you might seem like a poser. (With the acception of tricks.)
  • You could wear really tight jeans or you could wear baggy jeans, it’s just whatever fits your style, if you wear tight jeans, buy slim-fit because they stretch and are good for skating.

Things You’ll Need

  • Skateboard Shoes
  • A Skateboard
  • skating skills
  • skating terms
  • skating friends
  • a good place to skate (get an idea and check out places before actually going)

The Hair
The Hair…
THE MOST IMPORTANT PART!!!!
Big, bright hair!
boys have dark, side fringes and longer hair.
